I came across the Thunderbird Resorts-Rizal deal on Ensogo.com.ph and I couldn't help but feel that the the original value at P12,500 is quite pricey. It may be an exact computation, but the inclusion of the P600 worth casino match bet coupons does not do the deal any good. I've been in another branch of Thunderbird already and once you're there, you need to know that you won't be able to use that as it is. You will need to cough up more money to be able to play at least one of the games in the casino. That's gambling. It takes risking your money, even for a one-night experience of it.

I'm not saying that the deal price of P6,285 is bogus. For that amount you can already experience the Thunderbird Resorts chain of hotel luxury including an expensive breakfast for two (I can attest to the expensive breakfast so this is worth it), plus be able to watch Karylle and Christian Bautista sing songs live (a real treat aside from just staying inside your hotel room). What I'm saying is that P12,500 is too hefty an original price, at least for the hotel chain's Rizal branch.

It's been months since Chowking  launched its ho-hum Chinese-style fried chicken (I honestly liked their old chicken recipe) so when I got news that the fast food giant is launching its two new Chef Bowl Specials, I made sure I had one of those for lunch.

What I had was the Honey Garlic Chicken which came with layers of soft white rice, sautéed vegetables, two slices of boiled egg, the chicken smothered with honey sauce or something like it.

I recently read a press release about what I ate and Chowking apparently boasted of the Chef Bowl Specials being able to provide the consumer with mouthfuls of authentic oriental goodness. Sad to say, it was basically the culprit. It was a mouthful and the food elements just did not go well together. The egg seemed to have been at odds with the garlic-y sauce. In my mouth that is.

For P79, the Chef Bowl Specials can offer the regular office worker an alternative to the styro-oriented menu of KFC and Jollibee, but if you're looking to make every peso count, you might as well just settle for other Chowking favorites.
